Staghorn Hermit Crab

Simply one of the most coolest and most unique hermits on earth. They make a great addition to any cleanup crew. Most hermit crabs make homes out of shells but oh no not this hermit. The staghorn hermit actually lives within a coral (Janaria mirabilis) showcasing one of the most unique symbiotic relationships ever. Fascinating, rare and awesome addition to any reef tank. Please note because of its large unusual shell they can not always right them selves if they fall. The actual crab itself is very hardy but needs extra attention in case it falls over.

Acclimation:
Slow temperature acclimation: 30-60 min
Dripping is the preferred method of acclimation for all inverts. Most invertebrates are best with a 1 hour drip. More sensitive invertebrates like starfish and urchins should be dripped for longer.
The AccuDrip by Innovatiove Marine is an excellent, affordable, acclimation tool to make dripping marine inhabitants easy and pain free.
Notes for Success:
- Make sure there is no significant change in water temperature while acclimating.
- They are not tolerant of high nitrates
- They are not tolerant of copper medications
