Acro Crab
The Acro Crab, Trapezia Pocillopora, is small SPS dwelling invertebrate. Corals in the pocilloporidae family are the preferred host of this crab. However, if none are available in the aquaria, the Acro Crab will be hosted by Acropora species. These crabs have a bennificial symbiotic relationship with their host. They will defend their host from predatory crabs and starfish as well as remove built up detritus and small reef particles. In return, the coral naturally secretes a nutrient rich mucus that the crab feeds off of. This does not harm the coral! The addition of an Acro Crab can be beneficial to the health and longevity of your SPS corals as they clear any dead flow zones between the branches of the corals.
Acclimation:
Slow temperature acclimation: 15-30 min
Dripping is the preferred method of acclimation for all inverts. Most invertebrates will do well with a 1 hour drip. More sensitive invertebrates like starfish and urchins should be dripped for longer.
The AccuDrip by Innovatiove Marine is an excellent, affordable, acclimation tool to make dripping marine inhabitants easy and pain free.
Notes for Success:
- make sure there is no significant change in water temperature while acclimating.
- They prefer a host
- They are not tolerant of high nitrates
- They are not tolerant of copper medications
