This osmolator is very easy to install and provides complete functionality in a single compact unit. The primary sensor is a mini optical infrared sensor allowing for extremely precise regulation. A secondary float sensor serves as an independent back up. A ten minute timer shuts off the pump is the sensors fail.
We highly recommend this automatic top off and it is our personal choice on every reef tank in our store today.

High-tech – for a reliable water level in the aquarium
In 1985 TUNZE® invented the automatic refill system for aquariums. At that time, some people regarded this invention as a useless accessory….but they forgot something very important: sensitive aquarium animals need a constant osmotic pressure within their cells. Tunze calls their ATO an Osmolator® (osmotic regulator) but it’s really just a fancy way of saying auto top off. It is super simple to install and comes as a compact unit. TUNZE® has been able to create the ultimate ATO over the course of their many years in the business. Their experience in the aquarium world is truly unmatched.
Ships complete with tubing, pump and power supply and magnetic mounts for sensors.You only need a reservoir and water.
The Controller 5017 displays all functions optically and sounds an alarm in case of failures.
Redundant security: the main sensor is a proprietary optic sensor. Should that fail a safety float switch shuts the unit off and sounds an alarm. Even if that fails, safety circuitry shuts off the pump after 10 minutes.
An optical mini sensor recognizes the water level precisely.
