The pipe organ coral is one of the most unique corals! It gets its name from the way it grows; its skeleton closely resembles that of a pipe organ. It forms a calcium base and then extends soft tentacles from each sprout. It fast growing , easy to keep, and will continually grow larger, it does not encrust. It is easy to frags and non invasive. It has no sting and does well in lower – medium  parts of any aquarium. They do like moderate flow and need the current to keep their bodies clean. They often come in the white variety, which is usual because white on a coral usually means death but not in the case of pipe organ. We sometimes get them in green or yellow varieties. Its great for beginners or advanced reef keepers as it has no special care requirements. It can be easily glued down to any surface and won’t hurt any corals it comes into contact to.

Pipe organ can collect algae on its base structure, preventing full extension of its poylps. When placing on the rock, find a medium to high flow area of your aquarium where algae cannot settle on the calcium base of the coral. Be sure to secure the coral to the rockwork as it can easily be moved in more turbid areas.
