What Are Jason Fox Signature Corals?

Jason Fox Corals has gained worldwide fame in the reefing hobby with his insanely bright and rare corals.  He is credited with bringing a number of new corals into the reefing hobby.  The list of corals credited to him is almost endless but a top five list would include: Raja Rampage Chalice, Jack O-Lantern Leptoseris, Anti-Venom Favia and the aptly named Fox Flame Acropora.  These trade names should not be confused with trademarks, and other vendors and hobbyists can freely grow, propagate and sell Jason Fox corals.

Where Do Jason Fox Corals Come From?

Jason Fox is well known for wild collecting unique corals from the world’s oceans, aquaculturing and then ultimately fragging them and offering them for sale.  Contrary to popular belief, none of his unique colour morphs are cross bred, gene spliced or grafted.  This process of collection, culturing and fragging can take quite a bit of time as he likes to wait until he has an ample supply before offering them to market.

Why Are Jason Fox Corals So Popular?

One of the things that make Jason Fox Corals so popular are their colours.  He focuses on finding corals from around the world that are simply breathtaking in their colouration.  Also, because Jason Fox corals are completely captive bred, hobbyists can enjoy these beautiful corals without stressing natural reef environments.  This also means that he focuses on corals that grow well in captivity, an added bonus for home reefers.  Of course, there is also the matter of brand recognition.  Jason Fox is one of the best known names in the reefing hobby and his signature corals are also something of a status symbol.

Are Jason Fox Signature Corals Worth the Price Premium

Like all corals in the hobby, whether something is “worth the price” is up to each individual hobbyist.  Jason Fox corals have the advantage of being captive bred and adapted to home tank environments as well as being absolutely stunning.  Many of the corals that have been available in the hobby for a while are also fairly reasonably priced.
