A monitor and a controller
Not only does it control your equipment but it acts an insurance policy. It monitors the most basic life support values of your reef tank like temperature, ph, orp, salinity, alkalinity, calcium, magnesium and more. Not only will it monitor these values but you can tell the Apex to do specific functions based on these values. For example you can tell your Apex to control your heater based on a temperature probe reading. And if your temperature falls to low or raises too high your Apex controller will send you a text message, email and or let off an audible alarm.
