Placement

GSP does well in a wide variety of location in a reef tank. Generally, we encourage people to isolate their frag to a small piece of rock or the back wall of your aquarium. They grow quickly, when happy, and can outcompete other corals for space. GSP will even grow overtop of other corals in your tank!

Green star polyps do well in almost any lighting and flow. As long as you place it away from any extremes (very low or very high) it will generally adjust. Just be sure that the polyps are extending daily.

Feeding

This coral will thrive in a tank without feeding, given that there is good quality lighting, as it relies heavily on the photosynthesis of its zooxanthellae. However, it isn’t harmful for the coral to have supplemental feeding occasionally.

 Propagation

Green star polyps is exceptionally tolerant of fragging making it an excellent candidate for aquaculture. You can cut it with scissors or a blade, glue down the piece, and the frag will grow. Due to this tolerance, we have not seen wild GSP in a very long time and are currently aquaculturing in our FCC system.
