White Spot Anemone Shrimp

White Spot Anemone Shrimp                                                                            (Periclimenes brevicarpalis)

The White Spot anemone Shrimp, or Glass Shrimp, are a peaceful , discrete, shrimp that are non aggressive and easy to keep. You don’t need anemone to keep this shrimp happy. If you have anemone they will  host as protection from predators and rarely leave the anemone even when no predators are present. They are able to live within the stinging tentacles of the anemone due to a mucus coat covering their shell that is collected from their anemone. They will loose this slime coating when they molt. Since they do not have their protective coating at this time, they will stay near the anemone and collect more to build up protection again. They will then return back to their host anemone. This species can live with many of its kind within the same host.
