Halloween Hermit
The Halloween Hermit Crab gets its name from its unique orange stripped limbs that make it appear like a costume ready for Halloween ! This specific hermit is native to Hawaii and has a unique conical shaped shell that you wont find on many other hermits. Its not at all shy and can often be seen on the sand bed and low rock work throughout the day. Because of its heavy shell it also acts to stir the top layer of sand it drags it across the sand bed.   This hermit is an extremely useful aquarium cleaner that helps by eating any left over food that may settle.
The Halloween Hermit Crab is best known to eat nuisance algae including green hair algae and cyanobacteria.
Halloween hermits will get along well with Dwarf Hermit Crabs because the large size difference in shells, they won’t try to kill each other as often.
